Everywhere we look at the moment there seems to be a “collaboration” going on, but this does mean that we’re starting to see some very niche and interesting AEGs and GBBs coming down the manufacturing pipeline!

As big fans of DANIEL DEFENSE we’re really interested to see that coming later this year will be the DDM4 PDW SBR… now to us it looks very much like a PDW rather than an SBR (and yes, there is a difference!) but the fact is that it looks great whatever you call it!

It’s a licensed DDM4 , but this time an ultra-compact AR platform and it’s been was created through a collaboration between CYMA and EMG, and comes with a 6-inch MFR XL aluminum handguard, compatible with the M-LOK standard. Additionally, there is an upper rail system on both the upper receiver and handguard, providing an ideal platform for various accessories, although the short length on the handguard will limit exactly what combination can be fitted.

The reinforced alloy PDW stock (6-position adjustable) features two sling attachment points and a compartment for battery storage. The replica also includes the licensed Daniel Defense mock linear compensator, ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle, Daniel Defense polymer pistol grip, and a LANCER L5AWM 300BLK polymer magazine. To enhance realism, the receiver, handguard, stock, barrel, fire selector lever, bolt release, magazine release, trigger, and charging handle are all made of high-quality alloys.

The AEG comes as an E-EDITION HIGH-SPEED configuration which will be precisely tuned to provide excellent firepower, rate of fire, a faster trigger response, and effective electrical system protection. To achieve these results, CYMA has used components known for their increased durability such as:

  • Reinforced V2 gearbox frame
  • Processor unit with built-in MOSFET system
  • Full steel teeth polycarbonate piston
  • CNC machined steel gear set (ratio: 13:1)
  • 8mm ball bearings
  • CNC machined aluminum silent cylinder and piston head set (ball bearing piston head, double o-ring cylinder head)
  • Bearing spring guide High-speed neodymium motor
  • Metal rotary hop-up chamber

This looks to be a superb addition to the DANIEL DEFENSE AEG stable that looks absolutely perfect for CQB-action, and from what we’ve seen recently from CYMA along with everything being properly licenced via EMG it’s a model we most certainly look forward to getting to grips with when it arrives later this year!
