The AA Crew at SHOT certainly appear to be enjoying their time in Las Vegas so far, and continue to get their hands on “the real” before they head into the show proper tomorrow to check out all the latest “replicas”!

Monday at SHOT is always one of our favourite days, MEDIA/INDUSTRY DAY AT THE RANGE, where journalists, writers and reviewers, bloggers, vloggers, and other associated tellers of exciting shooty tales from all over the world can come together to get hands-on all the most exciting boomsticks… with FREE AMMO too!

Boycie checked in overnight to tell us;

“Monday and the day prior to the main Shot Show; this is when the AA Crew hit the Boulder City Rifle and Pistol Club, along with fellow media members and buyers to see and test fire a vast array of live firearms.

We boarded the coach that would take us out to the range and the chatter showed the excitement from not only us but also the rest of the fellow attendees. On arrival we queued up to enter the gun line and meet up with our friends from the Swanson Media Group (SMG) before deciding which end of the line we’d start at. As with last year we started at the top and worked our way down through around eleven stands and then decided it was time to go and get some breakfast, as we’d left the hotel quite early so that we could beat the major queue!

One of the first stands we stopped at was Bushmaster Firearms, and we got the chance to fire the massive .450 Bushmaster which for those who know is basically a double length .45 ACP case tipped with a 325 grain bullet. Carrying on down the line, we ticked off a rifle from our bet list; the .223 SIG MCX. Although a bit heavy, it was a really nice rifle to shoot. We then went on to the 1000 yard range where both Boycie and Steve rang the steel with all three rounds on a target a little smaller than a dustbin lid.

After lunch we went down to where the majority of the firearms on offer were pistols and spent a couple of hours running Flux, Glock, Walther, Browning , Keltec and a few others, including the Radian .223, of which PTS makes the licensed GBBR replica.

After a long eight and a half hour day we boarded the coach to return us to our hotel and then dinner with the wider AA/SMG team to discuss the day’s fun. Tomorrow we hit the Venetian Center and Ceasars Center to begin our FOUR DAY TOUR around the vast array of stands for SHOT SHOW proper.

We’ve already got a number of meetings with manufacturers lined up, and after lunch we will be joined by Dan who will complete our four-man Airsoft Action reporting team. We can’t wait to get onto the floors and start relaying back news hot from the show!”

Sounds like a GREAT day was had at the range, but tomorrow (today? Gotta love time differences!), the new product search will begin in earnest in the cavernous halls of the show proper; of course Boycie and the AA Crew will be reporting back again to let us know what they see… so watch this space!
