After a dark and wet week confined in the AA office we’re pleased to tell you that the sun is now shining, and that we’ll be heading out to the range this weekend to put some new AEGs and GBBs through their paces!

The AA Red Cell Team will be assembling again to check out a whole heap of 1911 models, both classic and Hi Capa, and at the same time we’ll be shooting some of the latest models to arrive with us for Test and Evaluation, and amongst those will be the Daniel Defense® MK18 SA-E19 EDGE carbine from Specna Arms!

We’re really excited about this new model as its’ the first one that has been manufactured in cooperation with EMG Arms! The carbine also has engraved licensed markings from Daniel Defense®, a firearms manufacturer from the USA who really need no introduction (especially to you MilSimmers out there!) who have been providing various variants of the AR15 and accessories on “special request” to USSOCOM since 2002!

The carbine features a factory-fitted MOSFET X-ASR module by GATE, and this will looks after the safety of the components, improve trigger reaction and extend the lifetime of electronics and the battery. It will also enable diagnosing basic malfunctions inside the replica thanks to integrated status diodes.

The replica features an internal precision barrel with 6.03 mm in diameter that provides high accuracy and repeatability of follow-up shots. The barrel works in tandem with a new type of a Hop-Up rotary chamber that allows for very precise and stable adjustment of the BB spin.

The replica features the ESA™ Quick Spring Change System, so it’s easy to rapidly and quickly adapt the power of the replica to the conditions expected on the playing field without the necessity to have the access to a workshop or a set of special tools; all that is required is to remove the stock tube in order to gain access to the spring so that it can be removed without having to pull out or disassemble the gearbox.

The heart of the replica remains the excellent ORION gearbox based on a reinforced frame and equipped with a main spring release function. The replica also features an array of high-grade parts right out of the box, which makes it both reliable and easy to work on for further tuning.

Main Features include:

– reinforced polymer piston with a full, steel jaw
– aluminum, air-sealed nozzle
– aluminum, double air-sealed cylinder head
– aluminum, double air-sealed piston head with bearings
– bearing-mounted spring guide
– set of steel gears
– 8 mm ball bearings

We’ve been waiting for this model since we heard about the new tri-partite collaboration at SHOT in January, and now the MK18 is here we are REALLY looking forward to getting it on the range; first impressions on build quality are hugely positive (it’s built like a tank!), and a full report will follow in Issue 120 of Airsoft Action (November 15 Upload)!

For now, if you’re out this weekend, enjoy your game, keep safe, and keep (airsoft) shooting!
