After all the excitement of last week with “Da Bois” out in Las Vegas we’re back to as normal as we get today, and we’ve got something here that’s sure to please British players, along with our friends around the world that aspire to a “UKSF” loadout!

Whilst the KS-1, or L403A1, has undoubtedly stolen the limelight (and both Stewbacca and Bill love their VFC GBBR versions!), elements within the wider UK Special Forces (UKSF), specifically the Royal Marines Commando Force, have adopted the Sig Sauer MCX, including variants for maritime counter-terrorism. While the Royal Marines are adopting it, earlier MCX models have been seen, with some sources suggesting designations like L143A1/A2 for UKSF, often complementing the L403A1.

Online sources tell us;

  • Deployment: Over 1,500 MCX rifles were issued to the UK Commando Force in 2025 for maritime operations, replacing older Colt Canada C8 weapons.
  • Variants: The force is adopting both 5.56mm and .300 Blackout versions (9-inch barrel) for specialized, close-quarters roles.
  • Role: The MCX is used for specialized operations and, alongside the L403A1, forms a modernized, modular arsenal for UK maritime counter-terrorism and special operations.

As a part of a wider deliver of MCX-based GBBRs from SALVO, The guys at iWHOLESALES tell us that they have a specific “UKSF-inspired” model in the mix, and they go on to say;

The Salvo MCX UKSF Hunter MWS GBBR is a premium GBBR built for skirmishers who want authentic ergonomics and battlefield-ready performance. Modelled on the SIG MCX platform and finished in a UKSF “Hunter” configuration, this MWS-style GBBR combines realistic handling, modularity, and upgrade potential in a compact, tactical package.”

Key design highlights include a folding and fully adjustable stock for compact transport and optimal length-of-pull, an integral suppressor-style handguard for the distinctive UKSF look (tracer-capable when used with tracer BBs), and full-length Picatinny/M-LOK rails for optics, lights and grips. Ambidextrous controls and a robust build make the SALVO MCX UKSF ideal for airsofters who like “the real”, and collectors seeking an authentic MWS-compatible replica.

Key features include:

  • Real-world SIG MCX-inspired design in UKSF “Hunter” configuration
  • MWS-style Gas Blowback Rifle (GBBR) platform — realistic blowback action
  • Folding & adjustable stock for compact carry and user adaptability
  • Integral suppressor-style handguard — with built in tracer!
  • Full accessory rails (Picatinny / M-LOK compatible) for optics and tactical gear
  • Ambidextrous controls (safety, mag release, bolt catch/charging handle where applicable)
  • Built for upgrades — compatible with many MWS-style parts and accessories
  • Durable finish (Tan/Black) suited to field use and display

As much as we do appreciate the L403A1 this new GBBR gives another option for those wanting to “go Brit”, and we think it looks absolutely amazing… but how will it perform?

We’ll let you know just as soon as we’ve got our hands on one!
