Some of our regulars may have noted that in ISSUE 160 we took a long, hard look at the range of new AEGs replicating GRAND POWERs awesome R15 FREYA “AR”, and after seeing them in the flesh at IWA 2024 at the time he introduced them Bill said;
“Looking closely at the four models that most closely (almost identically) replicate Grand Power’s FREYA first up you get the SKELETON 13” M-LOK model that is a dead-ringer for the outright competition rifle. Then there are three dedicated FREYA variants with 7, 10, and 13” barrels that replicate the features of the real thing.
All models are full metal, with CNC-machined alloy handguards, and they feel absolutely awesome, with not a creak or grown, and most certainly not a wobble anywhere! The motor grip is a completely new design with a brushless motor and fills the hand comfortably and assuredly, whilst the new DELTA V2 stock melds some classic design elements together in one neat package, with a hinged buttplate allowing massively easy battery changes to factory pre-fitted DEANS… nicely done Peter and crew!
Externally the FREYA models are superb and 100% modern; black is Matte black and looks plain mean, whilst the tan variants are “proper tan”, not the shiny finish that we often see on some models; it’s a proper “flat tan” and looks great and this will undoubtedly be a top seller! However, the one I personally fell in love with is the green version… to me, it just looks “right”.

And THAT was in ISSUE 160 as we said, but good things do come to those that wait… rolling on to well over a year later and looking forward to ISSUE 178 in September, due to trials and tribulations in UK distributorship we’re finally able to follow up on this story… as we just received a DELTA ARMORY R15 FREYA GEN2 14″ from the good guys at PATROL BASE to check out!
They told us;

So, we’re pretty stoked to finally have an R15 FREYA to get onto the range and see what it can really do, although we have no doubt it will be as awesome in terms of performance as it looks as a licenced replica of “the real”.
And of course we’re also looking forward to seeing a sample of DELTA ARMORY’s take on the STRIBOG SMG that PATROL BASE have assured us should be “in country” by the time we see them at the NATIONAL AIRSOFT FESTIVAL at the end of this month, and just like many of you we’re looking forward to seeing the STRIBOG there in production form for the very first time!
