We just got an email from the team at iWHOLESALES to let us know they now have the latest GBBRs in stock (and on their way to stores!) using the CYMA GAS SYSTEM (CGS) and what a delight they are for those of us that love a bit of “retro” in our lives!

For collectors and skirmishers who appreciate the lineage of the AR platform, the latest collaboration from Colt, EMG, and Cyma is a dream come true!

They told us;

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of these iconic, fully licensed rifles, all built on the acclaimed Cyma Gas System (CGS), which is widely compatible with the Tokyo Marui MWS standard. This means you get period-correct aesthetics paired with modern, reliable gas performance.”

With five models to choose from our pick has to be the Colt M723 1989 14.5″ as it’s an absolutely classic AR, best known for its use by U.S. Special Forces in the early 1990s, notably in Operation Gothic Serpent (“Black Hawk Down”).

Featuring a hybrid design with an M16A2 lower receiver, a C7 (Canadian) fixed carry handle upper, A1-style sights, a shorter 14.5-inch pencil barrel, and CAR-15 stock, it’s an iconic “retro” carbine popular for clone builds.

Features include;

  • Classic Military Replica: High-fidelity replica of the Colt M723 Carbine (1990s service rifle) featuring the 14.5-inch barrel and fixed carry handle upper.
  • MWS Clone System: Utilizes a high-performance Tokyo Marui MWS Gas System clone known for superior thermal efficiency and cyclic consistency.
  • Lightning Internals: Features Lightning Series internal components (likely high-speed/reinforced) for snappy trigger response and reliable full-auto function.
  • Full Metal Construction: Robust Full Metal receiver and external components, providing realistic weight (approx. 2.7 kg) and superior durability.
  • Authentic Furniture: Features the classic CAR-15 style handguards and stock (or similar collapsible stock) essential for the 1990s aesthetic.
  • Licensed Fidelity: Officially licensed by Colt, featuring authentic deep-stamped trademarks for maximum realism.
  • Performance: Consistent GBB FPS (330-380 FPS) suitable for field skirmishing and Milsim roles.

Obviously it’s ideal for a “Gary Gordon” gas-build, but with a change to the muzzle it could also double up for “NamSoft” games in lieu of a Colt Model 629/XM177E2 (and yes, we know there are differences, but…).

We’re absolutely thrilled to see these models come into the wild, and we’re sure there’s a lot of you out there that will agree with us… the Christmas stocking just keeps getting fuller!
