It’s already that time again to call the office week a done deal at AAHQ and get ready for some shooting-related fun, , and after many of the AA Crew being out and about and in-game last weekend things are going to be slightly quieter as we all prepare for the busy weeks and months ahead!
Over the course of the last seven days we’ve had members of the gang attending the first big game in the UK of this season, we’ve had guys out doing their thing in smaller games, and we’ve even spent some time with “movie people”, as Bill told us “I’ve been out on the road this week meeting some of our industry partners which is always a good thing as it keeps me current with what’s landing on my home turf in the UK.
Much as this was excellent my highlight of the week was meeting some cool people (no names, no drill at this point!) who are involved with supplying firearm props to the TV and movie business! They wanted to know all about GBBs and GBBRs so I was happy to oblige, running them through some of my own pistols, carbines and rifles… suffice to say they liked what they saw. I hope that there may be a story in this at some point, but for now it was just another unique experience in my airsoft life which was fun!”
Miguel also represented the magazine superbly well this week in his new Deputy Editor role by picking up the slack while Bill was away, and talking about what we do and why we do it courtesy of our good friend Joana and the ANA SAFEZONE podcast (pictured); thanks guys, we really appreciate you talking about AIRSOFT ACTION! With that done, he told us that “on Sunday we will be playing on an active Air Force base in a Cluedo-style game, with six factions trying to solve a mystery…”
Over in the USA Dan is back to form as well and said “I’ll be hitting a small open play day game this weekend. Looks like it will fortunately cool down a bit by Saturday as most of this week has been kind of hot and muggy so far. Then if I’m not too exhausted post-game, I want to tinker some on my work-in-progress AK project. I had all these extra parts laying around and determined I had enough stuff to actually build a whole new gun… so why not?
I’ve got a surplus real steel blonde laminated wood stock coming to match the handguard (which is also real steel, but of unknown origin), and I’ve also ordered up the proper ribbed dust cover too. I’m trying to decide if I really want to weather up the handguards to appropriately match the rest… they’re just too pretty and it’d almost be a shame to mod them…”
Stewbacca of course never stops, and commented “it’s Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan, so we get a long weekend and I don’t have to work on Friday or Saturday for a change. Woot!
Friday we’re having a small preparatory IPSC competition at our usual SPPT training place with a few other teams on the run up to World shoot 2025, then I’m having dinner and drinks with my Norn Irish by way of South African mate.
Saturday and Sunday with is another group of saffas; Team TaiJi are apparently going to the Longtan site, although I think looking at the weather and last weekend, I’m in fact going to return to Fulong and our friend’s holiday home there overlooking the beach and campsite where we were last week for POLK 5 MilSim; it’s time for another Braai (South African BBQ fun times) and a slack weekend in general, although I’ll probably do some design work on Sunday to stay caught up on side projects.
High powered business meatings all round, fellow shooters…”
And that about wraps up an exciting week for us, and although some of the AA Crew are taking things a bit easy, others will be out in-game and on the range as always!
We hope that you’ve got a great airsoft adventure lined up for yourself this weekend, and if you’re in-game then as always we’ll leave you this Friday by saying Play Hard, Play Safe, and above all… Play with Honour!
