Although we’ve been a little quieter online this week due to ISSUE 175 going live on Sunday (we always leave it at the top of the page for a couple of days to “settle in”) it’s nonetheless been a busy old week again at AAHQ as we start the process all over again for ISSUE 176 which will go live on JULY 15!

That means of course that our testing program continues apace, with AEGs and GBBs all being put through their paces on our ranges and in-game, new tech being fitted and trialed, and kit being submitted to some serious abuse… as Stewbacca is wont to say “we break it so you don’t have to fellow shooters!”

But the summer is well and truly here in the UK, and with (for us) some hoofing temperatures forecast over the coming weekend, to all of you out and playing, or hitting the range for some serious BB-slinging sessions remember to adjust your kit accordingly, and HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

And talking of games and shooting sessions, the AA Crew look to be making the most of all the great things going on, kicking into gear wherever they may be!

Bill told us “I had hoped to be attending The Return to Drakes Island this weekend with Rich, but sadly after a small surgery I still have some stitches in so I decided to play it safe and not potentially spoil other player’s fun if I have an issue… I’ll be having a slow shoot-day in the coolness and shade of the woods range though, as I have more fun to have with the recently CLICKER-upgraded Specna Arms MK18 (pictured in slightly more moist testing conditions!), and a Maruyama APC GBB to start working up…”

Of course Rich said “This weekend? Drakes Island, The Return… two days of fun in pitch black tunnels which given the weather forecast seems a good bet!”

Stewbacca added “this week, I will be mostly hitting up Pewniversity again with team Taichi for some urban warfare and training. Just had the long and storied saga of my FAL rounded out with a steel replacement receiver so I’ll take that out for a spin along with the OSW for convenience in indoor spaces. Also got the VFC Walther PDP review to round off and had a great time using it last night for other CQB shenanigans.”

Miguel and our Portuguese contingent are busy as ever; “this weekend, we are going to have another joint practice (mini-game) with another team. We are trying out a few new game modules from our programmable boxes. We are also going to clean the vegetation around a big well that we have in the field so we can mark it again safely.”

Over in the USA Dan told us “we’ve got the D-Day game this weekend, which should bring 250 – 300ish players, especially as this year it’s forecast to be a cool 60F with light precipitation (a far cry from last years 102 F!) I’m currently wrestling with the dilemma of what to bring to the party. A target-rich environment says take the PKM, but there’s always some other fun toys that want to play too… decisions, decisions…” whilst Matt said “I’ve got my usual Sunday practice, taking a budget tan kit out for a spin. In a lot of MilSims around me I tend to find that Greens are pretty dominant and I often default to Green when I get tickets, so I figure soon I want to see what’s going on on the other side…”

Closer to home there’s a lot of testing going on indeed, and the guys are busy on working up articles and reviews for ISSUE 176; Boycie told us “I’ll be progressing Projects Sunny and Parris; I’ll also be searching for some components that I’ll be needing for Project Sunny. Lastly I’m getting something packed up to ship down to L’il Stu for what I’m calling Project Clampit…”

Boycie and his “projects”… always something interesting going on in his workshop, that’s for sure, and he always drags poor Li’l Stu along for the ride!

So that’s a wrap from us this week, and we hope that you’re all enjoying ISSUE 175 right now! Of course there’ll be a lot going on in July, and the year just keeps bringing us all more and more airsoft-goodness.

Again, if you’re out shooting in any way this weekend then do make sure you look after yourself and those around you, and if you are in game then as usual we’ll sign off by saying Play Hard, Play Safe, and above all… Play with Honour!
