As we move on into the summer things are really hotting up, both figuratively and literally and the AA Crew are getting back up to full speed again! With some pretty big games and events under our collective tacticool belts already this “summer season” there’s still a lot more on the horizon to look forward to, especially as shooters from all over the globe are starting to head off to the Philippines for the ACTION AIR WORLD SHOOT at the end of this month!
We hope that you’re all enjoying 2025 as much as we are so far, and of course there’s also a lot of new AEGs, GBBs, kit, and gear hitting the market again after the lull that we always experience after the busy “show season” each year. All the new shiny things are really starting to hit distributors and stores… which means there’s even more for all of us at AIRSOFT ACTION to look forward to getting onto the range and into-game before we share our thoughts with you as always.
ISSUE 176 is ready bar the final tweaks to get online for you all next week, and rest assured it’s as full of news, reviews, and tales of airsoft adventures around the globe as ever, and we all hope that you’re REALLY going to enjoy this one!
But the weekend beckons, and things here are moving on apace! Bill told us from behind his screen at AAHQ “after being stuck behind my monitor for most of this week in the office I am REALLY looking forward to some rangetime! I’ll be giving a good spanking to the Maruyama SCW-9 and the latest NUPROL Pioneer before I put those properly to bed, and then getting a couple of hours in on the barricade with my G17 and 1911 Tactical Custom… always keep up those drills ya lovelies!”
Stewbacca (pictured somewhere DEEP in the jungle this week!) told us “Team Taichi will be trying out a new (to us at least) pay to play jungle outdoor site in the Northeast of Taiwan this Sunday. I, however, will not be joining them for once as I have a final practice competition with team SPPT and some others this Sunday before our departure for the world shoot in the Philippines in a little over two weeks time… holy hell… excitement intensifies, along with suspense, fellow shooters!”
The team over in Portugal have a busy weekend too as Miguel reported in “this Saturday we will be hosting the Night Ops VII event in our field. It’s one of the ANA’s (National Airsoft Association) yearly games, and like last year, they requested our field for the event. That means a Saturday filled with work, and a night game that will end around 0500!” Bruno added “well, as Miguel Oliveira said, we are going to host the Night Ops game, and my role is going to be POW… great! Hahaha!”
In the USA Dan told us “I’ll be doing some work and upgrades on my Real Sword SVD. I picked up a somewhat expensive Solink V5 reverse-operation brushless motor for it, which has necessitated upgrading some parts due to the massive torque the motor has. This will be a little complicated because the aftermarket upgrades for the SVD platform are geared around the CYMA version; these are mostly undersized compared to the larger than bore-up parts (“bore-up +”, if you will) Real Sword uses, so I’ll need to get crafty with some modifications. I’ll also be milling the gearbox shell to drop in a Perun ETU. Fingers crossed it comes off without a hitch!” Matt added “assuming the weather is good and people show up I will be stress-testing an upgraded 249 Featherweight because I hate myself and anyone outside of the 50 foot MED…”
Back in the UK, after another fabulous yearly outing to the amazing Drakes Island (report coming soon!) Rich told us that “I’m not playing this weekend but I am going to local site The Jungle to look at their rental platforms that need work” whilst Ben said “I’m gonna try and get my HPA platform and new regulator sorted, so no playtime for now, but next weekend I hope to play up at The Citadel prison site again… all depending if got enough funds as this HPA stuff isn’t cheap if you want to get it 100% right!”
The rest of the AA Crew are off and about assorted adventures, and there’s lots of little projects that are coming together for the future… in fact there’s ALWAYS something going on…
So, that’s a wrap for another week for us, and as you can see we’re all looking forward to getting out and about airsoft-wise… especially given the amazing weather we’re having right now! But that said, do be sure to HYDRATE, HYDRATE, and HYDRATE when you’re out in-game, and really make the most of whatever game or range-day you may be involved in!
Signing off, and as always if you are in-game this weekend then… Play Hard, Play Safe, and above all… Play with Honour!
