It’s an exciting time again for airsoft, and this weekend that’s on a global stage as competitors, including our very own Stewbacca, are arriving in Iloilo City, Philippines for the Action Air World Shoot set for July 26 – August 3! Of course we’ll have coverage of the 2025 World Shoot courtesy of Stewbacca in due course, and all of us at AIRSOFT ACTION wish ALL the shooters the very best of luck in Iloilo City!
And if this area of our beloved game is of interest to you then don’t forget that in the current issue we have a RED CELL focus on Suitable Pistols for Action Air where we’re joined by our old friend Tim W; he’s a very well-respected Range Officer, Course-setter, Action Air shooter and now-veteran-level competitor, as well as being a devoted practical shooter with many years of experience in both handgun and Action Air/IPSC shooting… and just happens to be Action Air National Squad Director too!
Don’t ever let it be said that AIRSOFT ACTION can’t call on the right people to give you the right information about every area of our 6mm obsession!
Stewbacca told us that “this week, I will be mostly travelling to the Philippines, and staying until next week too. Six of us from Team SPPT are joining other shooters from Taiwan (around thirty of us in total I believe) to go and troop the colour at the Action Air World Shoot 2025 in Iloilo on one of the Middle island of the Philippines.
Our small squad (the 石虎 or ‘stone tigers’, one of Taiwan’s endangered native big cats) will be competing as a four-man team in Production Optics with myself and Ou from SPPT, and Wei & Wolf from team Spring Rain. At current count there are around 400 competitors from around the world, some I already know although some not in person, with a heavy presence from Hong Kong, Macau, the PRC, Mongolia and the host Philippines shooters, and others from further afield in the US, UK, and Finland among others on the lists that I’ve seen so far.
Exciting times. See you on the stages, fellow shooters!”
And the good news is that we’ve just heard from Stewbacca and he’s landed safely in the Philippines, so let the shenanigans commence!
But what of the rest of the AA Crew?
Well, Bill is back to his usual tempo and told us “Issue 177 is coming together REALLY well, and once again the guys have created some fabulous content for 15 August! That means that I can sit back just a little and get to my own AEGs and GBBs again for a Saturday woods range session… but I have testing to complete on the GBBR PPK20, and the latest Evolution Ghost 3.0 Viper had just arrived with me so I need to get the first BBs through that too… looks like I may be in the woods for a while, but hey… someone has to do it!”
Miguel said “this Sunday we are getting back into action. We will be playing in a container yard, with only pistols or shotguns… and with the recent passing of one of my teammates, the game will also be in his memory.”
All of us at AIRSOFT ACTION send our condolences to Miguel and his team-mates; it’s always hard to lose someone that has played a major part in your community; we hope that you too will send your thoughts and prayers, and take a moment to think about other airsoft friends that have gone to that big old Safezone in the sky…
As Dan takes a little “family breather”, Matt in the USA reported in with “Zulu24 over here is holding some MilSim Lite events, basically a push and pull deal… me and an attachment from my usual MilSim platoon are going to check it out to lay down some hate!”
Ben (pictured this week in full flow) said “I had a cracking day out up at Citadel last week, impressed myself with a couple kills I got… all shall be revealed in video I’m putting together! I’ve just got a bit of tuning to do with the RIF in photo, other than that it’s time to start getting my bits ready for NAF…got my chair ready this time haha! I just need a new sleeping bag, then have all organised!”
Rich has been busy with the “summer season” and after a unique time at “SYR”, and then “Return to Drakes Island” (reports coming soon!) he told us that “I’m off next to the Warzone Weekender, Friday-Sunday….”
With the rest of the AA Crew otherwise engaged with either range or workshop projects it looks like collectively we’ll be harming a LOT of BBs this weekend! Whatever you may be up to we hope that you’ll have as much fun as we undoubtedly will, and if you’re out in game then please remember our AA mantra… Play Hard, Play Safe, and above all, Play with Honour!
